Dr. Antoine T. Clark brings decades of experience as a dedicated woodwind instructor, performer, and conductor. Known for his expertise in clarinet, saxophone, and flute, he has taught students ranging from young beginners to advanced college music majors, inspiring them to achieve excellence in their craft.
In 2024, Dr. Clark was awarded the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s Music Educator Award and the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Artist Elevated Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to music education.
Dr. Clark’s students have consistently excelled, earning top honors in prestigious competitions such as the Music Teachers National Association Junior Woodwind Competition. They have performed with renowned ensembles, including the NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles, OMEA All-State Band and Orchestra, Capital University’s Community Music School’s Columbus Youth Symphonic Band, Junior Winds, and Cadet ensembles, Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras, and Northern Ohio Youth Orchestras. Many of his students are frequent participants in college honor bands, serve as leaders in their school ensembles, and are recognized for their exceptional musical abilities.
Dr. Clark’s teaching career spans appointments at respected institutions, including Kenyon College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Ohio Northern University, Denison University, and Wayne State College. Through his leadership at the Music Academy of Worthington, which he founded to provide exceptional music education in his community, he has inspired countless students to reach their full potential as musicians.
A champion of innovative pedagogy, Dr. Clark has served as a clinician at workshops, festivals, and honor band events across the United States. His masterclasses emphasize technique, musical interpretation, and ensemble collaboration, earning him recognition as an inspiring mentor and educator.
As a performer, Dr. Clark has held principal and associate clarinet positions with ensembles such as the Columbus Symphony, Westerville Symphony, and Gateways Music Festival.
Dr. Clark holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance from The Ohio State University, where his dissertation focused on adapting Baroque string music for the clarinet. His academic background and performance experience inform his teaching, offering students a unique blend of historical context and practical application.
Deeply committed to accessibility and community engagement, Dr. Clark has made significant contributions to music education, including serving on the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s Education Committee. His mission is to empower the next generation of musicians while promoting a lifelong appreciation for the arts. He is the founding artistic and music director of the Worthington Chamber Orchestra.
