Tulia Spurgeon is a Worthington native and 2023 graduate of Otterbein University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance with a minor in Educational Studies. She is passionate about using music to foster community, celebrate diversity, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Tulia teaches preschool and strongly believes in the importance of music, play, and movement in early childhood—principles she also weaves into her cello pedagogy.

Artist Statement

My hope is not only to create a beautiful tone on the cello, but to nurture a beautiful heart. I share Shinichi Suzuki’s philosophy that “Every Child Can!” Every child is born a musician, and their talent flourishes when nurtured with love and patience. In my studio, students are free to explore the cello, their emotions, and the world around them. I strive to help each student build confidence, feel comfortable with their instrument, and develop a lifelong love of music.
